Word of the Day

GADABOUT [\GAD-uh-bout\] , noun:

1.Someone who roams about in search of amusement or social activity.

My Sentence:

Somehow, my parents were too strict towards me in regards to my choice of friends. They simply didn't want me to mingle or to keep company with girls whom they observed as gadabouts. Hence, they preferred me to associate and be more friendly with older people where I could learn good lessons than my age counterparts.

Origin:

Gadabout is formed from the verb gad, "to rove or go about without purpose or restlessly" (from Middle English gadden, "to hurry") + about.
